Preschool

  • When do sessions start?
    • Sessions start in September. with admission all year
  • What Ages?
    • Our preschool groups are not a toddler program, and are best suited for kids in preschool or pre-K. New 3-year-old students are accepted on a case by case basis. Children must be potty trained.
  • What’s the upfront commitment?
    • An initial free trial class is offered to families prior to committing.
  • What’s the cancellation policy?
    • Cancel the plan at any time with 2 weeks’ notice. You should never feel locked in.
  • What’s the refund policy?
    • No refunds for absences in small groups

Assessments

  • What is the assessment?
    • This is a mid-level assessment option. It offers more than typical classroom screening and progress monitoring, but tt is less formal than special education eligibility testing or a private neuropsych.
  • What is the purpose of the assessment?
    • The purpose is two-fold: set the stage for an effective intervention AND support parents as they seek understanding about their child’s learning profile and next steps
  • What does the assessment involve?
    • It includes testing and analysis of errors or reading habits. Number sense assessment can be added.
  • When will we receive results?
    • A written report of your student’s assessment is typically available within 3 weeks.

Private Lessons

  • How are private lessons initiated?
    • Start with an assessment with me or light screening on day 1 of tutoring.
  • Will we receive a progress report?
    • Progress reports are shared in January or June. Longer reports can be requested for a fee.
  • Who determines what the goals of my student’s private lessons will be?
    • Goals are set by the tutors and the parents, and we encourage parents to be engaged and let us know what they are looking for and expecting.
  • Will Abigail be involved in my student’s lessons?
    • Support from me (Abigail) is a built-in option for all private clients. This includes emails about the tutoring plan, brief reviews of IEP, and responding to scores sent from the school. More formal support is available for a fee: i.e., attendance at an IEP meeting, Zoom conferences with parents, phone call/in-person meetings with classroom teachers.

Pricing

  • How much do classes cost?
    • See our most recent price list here.
  • When are payments due?
    • The year’s tuition is divided into equal monthly payments. This means every month your bill will be the same regardless of how many lessons were scheduled. You are only charged for the number of lessons scheduled (ex: 31 Mondays). Holidays and school vacations are removed from tuition ahead of time.
  • Do you offer discounts?
    • No discounts for siblings or year-long commitments

Schedule FAQs

  • When can my student start?
    • We have openings year-round, though some seasons have a bit of a waiting list.
  • Can I change my class time?
    • Families/students commit to 1X or 2X a week and remain on that schedule for the remainder of the school year. Availability cannot be guaranteed if you need to change days/times later.
  • What is the cancellation policy?
    • Cancel your plan at any time with 2 weeks’ notice. You should never feel locked in.
  • Will I be refunded for missed classes?
    • We allow for 2 pre-scheduled refunded absences per term (Sept-Jan and Feb-June). We do not offer day-of refunds.
